Programs El Camino Wind Orchestra Sinfonietta Orchestra

Dr. Camilla Kolchinsky, Conductor

The Sinfonietta Orchestra is an advanced level orchestra for middle and high school students. Sinfonietta students receive intensive training in preparation for membership in the ECYS Symphony. The orchestra performs original music chiefly from the classical period repertoire.

The first half of each rehearsal is divided into sectionals. Dr. Kolchinsky conducts the full string section, Coach Debra Weinberg works with the woodwinds, and Coach Scott Hartman with the brass. The second half of each rehearsal is devoted to full orchestra with Dr. Kolchinsky.

Several evenings each season are devoted to full sectionals, when coaches are invited to work intensively with a breakdown of all string sections in addition to the winds and brass.

The Sinfonietta Orchestra Season is launched each August with a three-day local “Mini-Camp.” The camp includes seating auditions, sectionals and full-orchestra.

Performances feature special guest artists and student soloists.
